Before I Die I Want To…

Game Review: Skytar Lacked Storytelling

I love this project. Artist Candy Chang created the first Before I Die wall on an abandoned house in her hometown of New Orleans after the death of someone she loved. After struggling with grief and depression, gratitude eventually restored her perspective.

Candy wondered if she could make a tribute to the special person she lost by creating a healing space in her community to restore perspective. Her idea was simple but powerful. She painted the side of a crumbling house and stenciled it with the prompt, “Before I Die I want to ___.” She left behind pieces of chalk for anyone passing by to pick up and share their personal aspirations for life for all to see.

There are now thousands of these walls across communities all over the world, reminding us how connected we are in life and death.

Here is our digital version of the wall. Please feel free to share in the comments below.
