Higher Highs

As you are reading this, I’m probably on a flight to Budapest, praying that my overstamped passport is a point of curiosity rather than concern at immigration and passport control when I arrive. 😳 My extra-large 52-page passport is full, although it doesn’t expire until 2027. That’s a lot of airline meals and only a few worth remembering. Also full are all appointments across the US for Urgent Travel which issues new passports for those of us who can’t wait the standard 10-13 weeks.

Once I arrive, it will be full throttle ahead as I join Kiefer Sutherland’s, So Full of Love Tour. I’ll have Jim Kirkpatrick at my side armed with his acoustic guitar to help me deliver a carefully chosen set. We’ll have a quick 30 minutes to do our best to connect with audiences across Europe and the UK.

Our concert at the Sierra Blues Festival in the land of Swiss chocolates, watches, and yodeling 🍫⌚️🎶 was a tale of highs and higher highs thanks to the direction of the wind and some friendly pot-smoking fans in the front row. By the time we hit midset, I was fighting off the sudden urge to watch cartoons and eat cereal. 🥣

On two hours of sleep, we flew straight to the UK and I made my way to Studio 91 in Newbury to record another track with Robin Trower. This very special song is for my solo album.

We shot some press photos before I left for New York. I haven’t seen the photos yet, but we had fun and I think you’ll see that through the lens. 📸

Alongside touring, time spent writing, refining, and recording the songs for my new album is taking priority in my schedule. If I’m to meet what feels like an accelerating deadline, I’ve got to deliver masters by the end of November for an early 2024 release. So far, I’m very optimistic about the work! 🙏🏻
