The Empire State Ride is a cycling adventure that raises desperately needed funds for cutting-edge cancer research at America’s first cancer center, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, which provides treatment and care for more than 36,000 patients from 46 states and three foreign countries each year.

I was inspired to join the cause!

I’m accustomed to life on the road but these 500+ miles challenged me in a way I’ve never experienced before. It was a grueling week long bike trip that took us from New York City to Niagara Falls at the Canadian border. We were punished by the elements, and the steep climbs, but rejeuvinated by the beautiful countryside and by the camaraderie of my fellow riders and support team. Most importantly, together we raised 1 million dollars!

I fell, I cursed, I laughed, I cried and I learned that riding a bicycle brings me joy. Being on the bike focuses my mind in a way that music does for me. Music and cycling absorb the stress of life and clears space for feelings of gratitude to flood in. The sound of the wind swirling around my ears and the rush of adrenaline pumping through my veins is as exhilarating as anything I’ve ever known.
